Hely Nguyen, B.F.A. Fashion Design, grew up in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. His collection was inspired by a fictional character named Louis, a young boy of modest means growing up in the early 19th century. Louis does not buy new clothes but simply adds to the length, which results in a layered look. Nguyen used silk wool, and cotton in a dark palette of olive, navy, and brown. Nguyen received a University scholarship to study at L’Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne in Paris, France.
