A lovely collection of tasteful intimate apparel made it’s debut during  Lingerie fashion week in New York City.

From the press release:

New York, NY 1 Mar, 2013 – Womenswear has it. Menswear has it. Swimwear has it. Now Intimates has it. Introducing LingerieFW™: the first Fashion Week dedicated exclusively to the intimate apparel industry. The inaugural season of Lingerie Fashion Week  just made its debut last weekend, showcasing FW13 collections Friday the 22nd & Saturday the 23rd at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City. Six designers took the stage via runway and presentation: global powerhouse Affinitas & Parfait, luxuriously erotic FYI by Dani Read, innovative NaïS, sultry Nevaeh Intimates, provocative Rouge Séduire and effortless Uye Surana. Lingerie Fashion Week will make its return for the SS14 season this August.

LingerieFW™’s debut season staged shows over a span of two days, offering brands two venues to choose from at the Metropolitan Pavilion: The Gallery offering sleek, white washed Presentation space and the airy Metropolitan Suite offering an elegant backdrop for Runway. The Gallery also played host to guest check-in as well as “The Boudoir” Sponsor Lounge, featuring a Press Lounge with Charging Station hosted by industry Media Partners The Lingerie Journal and CRÉATIONS, a hydrating SmartWater lounge, Gift Suite showcasing the LingerieFW Official Gift Bag, and Dry Bar from LingerieFW™ Hair/Makeup Partner The Temple, a Paul Mitchell Partner School and more. Not only did The Temple pamper guests at the Dry Bar with complementary styling throughout the shows, but also created all of the hair & makeup looks for showcasing designers backstage in collaboration with MAT, Advanced Makeup Education at The Temple and Ultimate Face Cosmetics.

Ultimate Face Cosmetics, The Temple, SmartWater, ZICO: Pure Coconut Water, PopChips, Smolder Perfume, Soak Wash and The Lingerie Alliance all generously donated product to the LingerieFW™ Official Gift Bag, displayed throughout the shows in the Sponsor Lounge Gift Suite. Karlsson’s Vodka in collaboration with mixologist Sean McClure of Cocktail Chemistry Consulting, along with Cayrum, Bruce Cost Ginger Ale, ZICO: Pure Coconut Water and SmartWater also signed on to provide libations & hydration at the LingerieFW™ Closing Party on Saturday, Feb 23rd, attended by fashion & intimates industry influentials and high profile New Yorkers including Alex McCord & Simon van Kempen. Having only been offered the tradeshow platform in the past, LingerieFW™ is the first Fashion Week to emerge worldwide exclusively dedicated to intimate apparel. Lingerie Fashion Week offers both emerging & established brands ranging from lingerie, loungewear and sleepwear to shapewear, hosiery, lingerie accessories & men’s underwear the opportunity to come together as an industry, collectively showcasing new collections via the exciting, progressive and press-driven Fashion Week platform. Event branding is sleek, sophisticated, fashion forward and most importantly innovative, providing a compelling hub designed to propel the intimates industry forward, while giving brands a dynamic stage for maximum media exposure.

Why a Lingerie Fashion Week now? Once considered a niche category, intimate apparel has recently exploded into the forefront of consumerism, having seen a dynamic surge of recognition particularly within the past few years. The industry is now prevalent in just about every area of pop culture, while innerwear-as-outerwear has moved on from being marked a passing trend to an omnipresent, permanent fixture in fashion worldwide. The U.S. women’s intimates and hosiery market alone grew to $14 billion in 2011, up from $13 billion in 2010 (Source: Citi ), showing growth in the mid to high single digits per year versus low to mid single digits per year for women’s apparel overall. (Source: Citi ). Says LingerieFW™ Founder & Director Lauren Rich:

“It is safe to say intimate apparel has successfully staked its claim as a power player in the greater fashion industry, and as such deserves a high visibility, influential platform to collectively give its growing force of brands their due voice. The goal of LingerieFW™ is to give this voice to the hundreds of beautiful, innovative intimates designers & brands via a channel not only reaching industry but also the consumer – spotlighting & elevating the industry as a whole. Through LingerieFW™, we want to make lingerie & intimates designers household names just as their womenswear counterparts are.”

LingerieFW™ is open to both emerging & established brands worldwide within the following categories: lingerie, loungewear, sleepwear, shapewear, hosiery, lingerie solutions, lingerie accessories, men’s underwear, men’s sleepwear and men’s loungewear.
