Zang Toi Fall 2011

Zang Toi’s Fall 2011 collection is a full blossom of his own artistic talents fused with the charisma exuding from the runway models. His show starts off with a pair of khaki pants and khaki top, cleverly meshed with a same-colored overcoat with a high impact fur around the neck. The model’s bronze shaded eyelids and eye-catching pinned up hairdo are chic. The immediate change of color scheme from placid khaki to black is an unexpected, but a delightful surprise. The black evening gowns highlighted with over-sized necklaces are mind-blowing. What impresses me in particular about Toi’s collection is the ease that he displays even with more mysterious colors like turquoise. As the dresses spread across the runway, a new fashion trend also spreads its wings.

Tibi Fall 2011

The hot pink accent dots scattered across Tibi’s Fall collection 2011 surely are infectious. To be honest, some of the dresses that were showcased made the models look as if they are six months into pregnancy, but that doesn’t mean that I was completely turned off by this collection. In fact, I thought the tones and patterns to Tibi’s pastel colored dresses were magnificent, and the ruffles towards the end of the collection were absolutely stunning. My favorite piece is the white snowflake dress that makes you feel as if you’re lost in a fairytale. What girl would not dream about wearing this dress after seeing this beauty? Tibi puts together elegance with sexiness all in one, and the quality of the dresses makes it clear that Tibi is indeed one of the hottest contemporary lines out there in New York.

Y-3 Fall 2011

Yohji Yamamoto’s runway presentation during New York Fashion Week. Notable standouts were overcoats, military jackets embellished with fur, and layered knits. Y-3’s futuristic activewear collection evoked a natural rustic feel, with a natural pallate punctuated by pops of red, turquoise, and plaid patterns. View the collection in the slideshow below. Allegri Fall 2011

Allegri celebrated it’s 40th anniversary with a fall 2011 presentation at Lincoln Center during New York Fashion Week. The courtyard was decorated with black and white umbrellas, and a colorful crowd of attendees. Allegri presented a dramatic retrospective of wool, water repellent jackets, and introduced it’s new foray into knitwear with wraps and twinsets.
